Boone Area Soccer Club

History of BASC: Started in late 2003 the Boone Area Soccer Club was formed as a 501(c)3 non-profit organization designed to offer competitive, traveling soccer to area youth. Secondarily, the club membership also wanted to pursue the process of forming a soccer program at Boone High School.

The first club soccer program in Boone began around 2001. Up until 2003, club soccer for Boone area kids was played within the framework of the Boone Park and Recreation department. When the Park and Recreation department in Boone was eventually eliminated, an energetic group of Boone parents began meeting to lay out plans for a local soccer club. Shortly after incorporation and during the first seasons of spring and fall games volunteers began to seek local business donations, corporate gifts and grants to raise the necessary money to pay for the formation of a high school soccer program in Boone. Over the next year-and-half the club raised $30,000 and donated the money to the Boone High athletic department to help pay for the purchase of equipment and uniforms. In the Spring of 2007 Boone High School was able to field a Varsity and JV program for both girls and boys because of the generosity of many local people and organizations.

The club continues to grow today and offers soccer to both boys and girls, ages 4 to age 18, playing through the Greater Des Moines Junior Soccer League, and in our newly formed In-Town League. 2010 will mark our seventh year of operation. The Boone Area Soccer Club achieves it's goals through parent support and volunteerism. A 10-member board meets monthly to review the club's progress and make necessary changes to the programs. Online registration eases the paperwork and provides an easier method of registering for local families.

Each season more and more kids are signing up to play competitive soccer. With passionate parent support and a membership committed to a stronger club soccer program, the Boone Area Soccer Club's future looks to be in great hands!
